Inspired By: Paper Play

This Inspired By post is part of a mini-series on the things and people that inspire my gift wrapping. Inspiration can strike at any time!

For those of you who celebrate, I hope you had a wonderful Easter! I wanted to share a project by paper artist Jeffery Ruddell. It started as a desire to wrap eggs in colorful paper shells for his nieces and nephews. As he continued (through 3 dozen eggs!), it turned into an exercise in experimentation.

Around egg number 18, he realized, "[W]hat I'm engaged in is less a matter of making an object and more a matter of investigating ideas; less a matter of work and more a matter of play."

The idea of "play" is a great one for gift wrapping! Sometimes, it's not about the actual wrapping - it's more about playing with ideas as you do it. Gift wrap is impermanent, so it's the perfect opportunity to test something out.

Read more about Jeffery's egg wrapping here and here.

On another note, my interview at ChelseaConnolly.com is up. Please drop by and say hello!
