Call for Reader Questions

Are you faced with a summer full of kids' birthday parties and weddings? Got a gift for Father's Day, but not sure what to do next? Scratching your head for new gift wrapping ideas? I've toyed with the idea of an advice column, but as I've solicited readers of The Gifted Blog, it's become clear that YOU are the ones with a wealth of knowledge!

So, I'm starting a new series especially for reader questions. Comment below with your question for the Gifted Reader Mailbox. If you're lucky, your question will be featured in a post so everyone can chime in with their creative solutions!

You can also send your gift wrapping questions to giftedmailbox(at)gmail(dot)com. Don't be shy. Ask away!

  1. This summer I have the dilemma of "have gift will travel" an international trip and two long distance weddings means that I have to have a fun way to gift wrap that 1. won't get ripped or doesn't mind getting folded or crushed 2. is quick and 3. looks nice. I like the japanese scarf idea, but are there others?
    thanks a million!!!

  2. I'd love to learn more about different cultures' approaches to gift wrapping. I've really been enjoying the bits about your trip to Japan. How about in Russia though? Indonesia? Peru? How do they gift wrap there?

  3. Erin and Sarah - Great questions, ladies. Personally, I have a Crate & Barrel box in the corner of our living room that I'm scratching my head over.

    Keep 'em coming, readers!

  4. I often have random pieces of wrapping paper left, and sometimes the piece would almost fit my gift, but with a less-than-1-inch gap. Are there some ways to remedy this situation instead of just using a brand new piece of bigger wrapping paper? (this question is actually from my roommate)

  5. I'd be interested in hearing more about both non-item gifts people have given and how they gave/wrapped them. For example, a day together at the spa or 5 free hours of baby sitting.

  6. Sam and Shawna - Great questions. I bet a lot of people are wondering the same thing! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
