Giveaway Update & A Seattle Workshop

A quick check-in:
1) As of this writing, there are 3 more gift card holders waiting to be claimed in my Thank You Giveaway! Please see the post if you'd like to receive a little fabric envelope made by me. Readers, I so appreciate you. I worked on the packaging for these guys today. After a little head-banging, experimentation, and input from my mom, I am really happy with the result (and only collapsed dramatically on the floor once). Thanks, Mom.

2) I'm having a Gift Toppers Workshop in Seattle this Sunday (the 25th), from 3:00-4:30pm. Surprise! It was filled by family friends, but there was an unexpected cancellation. If you would like to join, please e-mail me ASAP at giftedmailbox(at)gmail(dot)com!

3) I bought the most expensive piece of jewelry in my life (save for G.'s wedding ring) today. I first laid eyes on it last week and I've been thinking about it ever since. When I told the consignment shop owner, she nodded. "It happens," she said understandingly, "Especially with jewlery and shoes. I get calls all the time." It's a pearl necklace accented with a vintage brooch, and it's awesome. Made by a friend of the shop owner. Have been thinking a lot about giving handmade and buying handmade. Note to self: keep thinking and post about this soon.

Good night!

  1. Nice, way to buy a piece of jewelry that gives you joy!

I received the fabric card holder in the mail this past week and my mouth dropped open at the sight of your envelope. It was a gorgeous piece of mail art. Have you thought about doing a series on mail art? Thank you for the card holder--love it!

  2. If you ever reconsider putting these into production I'll be the first one in line to nab some, these are gorgeous and a brill idea! Actually if it was a tad larger I'd try to use it like a clutch.

Thank you so much for leaving such kind words at my place, it really made my day and believe me your site is so incredibly inspirational. So happy to have recently found it!!

  3. @Hanna K. - Teehee, thanks for the affirmation. I am bummed to have forgotten it at G's parents' house yesterday. Oops! So much for wearing it to a wedding this weekend.

I actually don't have much experience with mail art, but am flattered that you liked the envelope! My mom should get most of the credit...I will likely blog about my first failed attempt to make them.

@Marie Anakee - That is so encouraging! I definitely feel some renewed interest in doing something with my reusable gift wrap after everyone's kind comments on my giveaway. Maybe a limited edition run for Christmas?
