Life Update and Blog Question

Whew! Life is full. We're 35 weeks into pregnancy, about a month from our due date(!!!). I thought I would give you a little life update and ask for your input on the blog.

Family: Took two last-hurrah, before-the-baby trips, one to Seattle and the Bay Area, and another to Iowa. The pictures here are from our time at G's grandparents' lake cottage. Just a couple weeks after seeing him, we got news that G's grandpa passed away on Sunday. I'm so grateful for the time we shared with him. G is back in Iowa now for the funeral.

Pregnancy: Have a few practical things to take care of, but the big deal feels like preparing for labor. N's birth was HARD, and I need to pray through some of the fears I have. But super excited to meet Baby #2.

Church: Things are ramping up for Vacation Bible School. I've volunteered in the past, but never helped to coordinate it like this year. If you're looking for a quality VBS and you're in the Pasadena area, let me know!

Work: Looking for a temporary Studio Coordinator for Common Thread for when I'm on maternity leave Aug-Dec. Know of anyone? Also, thanks for all your great advice on blogging for a small business. I've taken it to heart on our blog and Facebook page.

Blog: I know the pace of my blogging will have to adjust once the baby comes. Bloggers, what do you do when you have limited time to blog? Readers, what do you like to see when your favorite bloggers need to take a break? A good old-fashioned pause? Reposted posts you might have missed from the archives? Guest posts? I'd really like to know.

  1. Sorry to hear about G's and your loss.

For the blog, guest posts! :) And few scheduled posts — roundups of some faves from the archives can work well. That way your readers don't forget to come back later when you're back.

    1. Corinna, thanks for your thoughts! I haven't 'recycled' any posts so far in the history of the blog, but I realized that even w/ blogs I love I rarely go back to read their archives. I think some kind of combo like you've mentioned could be good.

  2. Since I rarely get around to reading blogs anymore, a good ol' fashioned pause is fine by me. Or re-rum some popular posts, or guest posts. OK, anything you suggested sounds good!

Have fun with VBS - it sounds like a blast!

    1. Thanks, Luci! I get nervous thinking about a pause on the blog, but I remember coming across a blog where the author was taking the month off after having a baby. There was just something refreshing about that - acknowledging what a huge event that is and not feeling like she needed to be 'on' all the time. Good food for thought.

And thanks for the VBS wishes!

  3. My sincere condolences to you and your family regarding G's Grandpa, Charissa.

Also, just know that the second baby is generally easier than the first, which makes sense, and your body remembers what it's supposed to do (muscle memory and all)! So hopefully that helps a little...Anyway, I wish you the very best with delivering that little sweetie!

    1. Thanks, Michele. I really appreciate it. Thanks also for the encouraging words re: labor and delivery! We are working on building a good support team for when the big day arrives. The nice thing about the 2nd time around is that you know how magical it is in the end...a real, living baby really is going to be the fruit of your hard work!

  4. Have you thought about maybe getting some guest bloggers to contribute?

    1. Yes, totally. Haven't done as thorough a job at recruiting but there are some fun posts in the works! Let me know if you want to contribute. It would be fun to have you!

    2. I was thinking of maybe doing a "how to" post on woodcuts/linoleum printing. What do you think?
