Making Cards With Kids

Do your kids get involved in gift giving? I wanted to make a card with Big N for his cousin, but he's not necessarily the crafty type (unlike, ahem, other kids his age). I do want him to learn how to give, and not just receive, though, so I turned to our kitchen cabinets for inspiration.

We made 'paint' with food coloring and water and I let him use a straw to blow the pigments around on the paper. It was fun! I think having the process be playful and new to him made him more game to try it.

This was a fun project using supplies we had on hand. I'm not always so thoughtful about involving my kids in giving to others. I'd love to hear your ideas for helping kids get involved in the gift-giving process! How do you raise a generous child?
